After our last post on the McKenzie Lake swim spa install we did, we had a few questions from our Twitter friends about the difference between a swim spa and a hot tub. We thought we would do a quick blog post to outline some of the similarities and differences between the two. Whether you are looking for a source of relaxation, a place to socialize, or a way to stay fit, you can surely find what you are looking for with either one of these fantastic options.
A hot tub is a large tub filled with heated water and is most often used for soaking, relaxation, massage or hydrotherapy. A swim spa is usually larger than a hot tub but not as big as a swimming pool and can have many features of a hot tub such as jets and heated water. What a swim spa does provide that a hot tub cannot is a space big enough to actually swim, as well as counter current swim jets. This gives you the sensation of swimming in a large body of water against a natural current.
Both options can be used year-round, even in the cooler Calgary climate!
